Investigators with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Tift County Sheriff, and the Georgia Lottery seized more than 100 illegal commercial gambling machines in a joint effort Monday.
Five people have been arrested in connection to the illegal machines. More arrests are expected.
"Those machines are legal as long as you pay out tickets for merchandise. Your winnings are for merchandise. But you can't pay out in cash," said Sheriff' Gene Scarbrough.
Authorities began the raids Monday morning, and seized the machines from 13 businesses, three homes, an office, and a storage facility. Officials said the arrests come after more than a year of investigation.
