ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The City of Albany has a nasty problem to deal with, and it may cost nearly half a million dollars to do it.

Part of the main sewer trunk has a rupture in it at Broadway Street, where the line from East Albany comes in.

Officials say that it was caused by 17 years of sewer gas erosion.

They estimate a repair bill of $445,000, which will be discussed at Tuesday's city commission meeting.

Officials say that no sewage has leaked out, and that the EPD has been notified of the break.
