BEN HILL CO., GA (WALB) -  It can get pretty hot in South Georgia during the summer, and that's why the Ben Hill County Volunteer Fire Department is asking for water donations.

They’re hosting a water drive this month. Fire fighters can go through several cases of water while working, and organizers say budgets are tight for the Volunteer Fire Department.

“You add in the intensity of a fire and the temperature outside as well as the gear that they have on weighs over 50 pounds, it gets really hot, especially this time of year that intensifies it and they can get heat exhaustion a lot easier,” says coordinator Angela Elder.

You can drop off donations at the Southern Regional EMS station near Johnny's Drive Inn.
