ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Thousands of people turned out for the big July 4th celebration at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds in Albany.

Workers were up early Saturday morning cleaning up the grounds, which only took a few hours. Organizers say some folks showed up at the last minute to the show, causing heavy congestion on the roads to the fairgrounds.

"The roads, Oak ridge and Westover road was packed with cars when the first fireworks went off and everybody just pulled over to the side, got out of the cars and watched the fireworks," said Skip Nichols, Fairgrounds Manager and Vice President.

This is the second year for the show to be hosted at the grounds, which included live music, lots of food, and games.
