It's been a deadly weekend on Georgia roads for the July Fourth holiday.
Georgia State Patrol reports there have been 6 fatal accidents on the roadways in the northern and central part of the state since Thursday night. There is no word on the cause for any of the accidents.
In 2013, there was a total of 5 deadly crashes during the holiday weekend on Georgia roads. More cars on the road increases the potential for crashes.
In an effort to stop this, law enforcement is stepping up patrolling. Statewide there have been about 100 fewer fatalities so far in 2014, but the numbers are actually up from 49 deaths to 54 deaths in the southwest region of the state.
