The Trowell family used this 4th of July to hold a family reunion in Tift Park.

This was the 5th reunion for the family which stretches from Albany to Atlanta and further. George Walker says they do it in memory of his mother, Lily Mae Trowell, who passed away. He says she'd be happy to see the family sticking together in her absence.

"She was the glue, when she left us, when she first left us we kind of separated and went our own ways," Walker said. "Then just something in us, came to us and said we need to get back together, we need to show her the unity that we have."

Lily Mae Trowell was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Albany.
