With the constant loud noises produced by fireworks, officials are worried how dogs in our area are going to be handled this 4th of July.

Many dogs have a phobia of storms, astraphobia. It can send them into a frenzy but officials say there are ways to prevent that.

"One of the ways is you can confine them to a bedroom, an area where they fell safe," said Dr. Carie Wisell of the Companion Animal Hospital. "If they are an outdoor dog and they are scared of thunder and stuff like that, bring them in for the night."

Dr. Wisell also says putting your dog in a crate with some clothes that have your scent may also calm their nerves.
