MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -
The first half of a renovation project at an area hospital's emergency center is now complete.
The improved department at Colquitt Regional Medical Center features new trauma rooms, X-ray stretchers and an advanced cardiac monitoring system.
When renovations are finished the department will expand from 15 beds to 25.
“We have 10 more rooms to build in the phase two which will all be private. Two of those rooms will actually be secure rooms for psychiatric patients, which we didn't have in the previous ER. And a new and improved fast track area,” said Shane Gay, Interim ER Director.
“We want to be the hospital of choice for our community and the areas that surround us. And to do that we have to provide new technology,” said Dena Zinker, VP of patient services.
The Intensive Care Unit and Operating room will also be updated. With the new ER and technology the hospital is hiring more nurses and other workers. All renovations are expected to be complete by November.
