ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Congressman Jack Kingston stopped by a Dougherty County gas station to talk energy Thursday morning. Kingston says gas prices have more than doubled since 2009. He's calling on President Obama to make changes, like permitting the Keystone Pipeline, exploring new oil resources and investing in other energy options.

He believes once those changes are made, the gas prices will drop. "It's a strain when you go buy your groceries, when you go to the hospital or when kids are taken to school. Everything in American economy goes back to the price of gas," said Kingston.

Dougherty County Commission Chairman Jeff "Bodine" Sinyard was also at today's meeting. Kingston made a second stop in Tifton at 10 am.

Kingston will face David Perdue in the July 22nd runoff for Georgia's open Senate seat. The winner will face Democrat Michelle Nunn in the fall.
