Crimestoppers tip leads to 'Street Sweep' arrest

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A man with a long track record of running from the law saw his luck run out Thursday morning, when officers cuffed him at the Regency Inn in Albany.

24 year old Jacolvie Curry was arrested, along with his girlfriend, Tammy Saumenig, without incident.

Dougherty County Police Lt. Chad Kirkpatrick said "He came to the door.  He was arrested without incident.  When he was arrested, there was marijuana in the room. Approximately two ounces of marijuana."

Curry was caught with 36 bags of marijuana packaged for sale, and a small amount of cash.

He and his girlfriend are being charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

They were both taken to the Dougherty County jail.

Curry was one of 25 people featured recently on WALB's Street Sweep program. He has been on the run since he assaulted an APD officer, and fled after wrecking his car in east Albany.

Worth County authorities also want Curry for burglary in that county.
