FL deputies catch high-speed Valdosta suspect

LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) -

A Valdosta man is waiting to be extradited back to Lowndes County after an early morning high speed chase that ended in Hamilton County, Florida.

Just after midnight, Valdosta Police tried to pull over Donald Brown for a possible DUI. He sped away, driving out of the city and into Lowndes County where he led Lowndes County Deputies up and down several roads, including Inner Perimeter, before eventually heading South on Highway 41 towards Florida.

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office put down spike strips just before Lake Park, but even that didn't stop him.

"He continued on, even after that, passing into Florida where, again, Hamilton County deployed stop sticks and that managed to stop Mr. Brown," said Lowndes County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Stryde Jones.

Jones added that Brown did put up a fight when Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputies tried to arrest him and the deputies did have to use a tazer on Brown in order to get him under arrest.

Donald Brown is currently being held in the Hamilton County Jail and is facing multiple charges with Valdosta Police, the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office, and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
