Watermelon stands are popping up all over south Georgia. A couple of them were spotted on North Slappey Boulevard Wednesday afternoon.
Watermelon planting season was rough for many south Georgia watermelon growers. Sellers worried they'd have to go to Florida to get enough melons to sell for July 4th weekend.

"Most of the watermelons are just now coming in and they will be coming in later on too," said seller Benny King. "It rained so much during the time that they planted them and about the time that they planted them, it washed them out and they had to replant."

The going rate seems to be 2 for $5.
