MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

A downtown enhancement project in Moultrie remains on schedule despite some weather challenges.

Phase III of the Streetscape project includes removing and repaving sidewalks and installing benches and lighting. The Blue Sky Grill is also expanding into a 30,000 square foot building on the square. City leaders say the developments are important to keep downtown the heart of the community.

"Downtown is the heart of the community," said Amy Johnson, Main Street and Marketing Director. "The heart and soul of the community and I actually look at downtown as the industrial sight. It actually is an aesthetically pleasing area, but in the downtown area we're growing jobs."

The Streetscape project should be finished in November. Renovations to the Blue Sky Grill are also expected to be complete by late fall.
