Slow drivers will now have to pay up

Posted: Updated:
CRISP CO., GA (WALB) -

The new so-called slow poke law goes into effect Tuesday.

Officials can now give you a ticket if you are in the left of a divided highway and you don't move to the right to let a faster vehicle go by.

Officials also want drivers to remember the move over law that states drivers need to move over for stationary law enforcement or emergency vehicles with flashing lights.

"It's something we take very serious. We want to keep the public safe as well as officers out on patrol," said Sgt. Ben Sumner.

The Move Over law says if it's impossible for you to move over a lane when you pass an emergency vehicle. You must slow down to a safe speed.
