VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Georgia State Patrol in Valdosta is reminding pedestrians that it is illegal to walk along interstates.

Three pedestrians were killed Tuesday morning in Atlanta when they tried to cross I-85.
GSP said if they see anyone walking along the interstate, they try to get them off as quickly as possible.

"Federal highway system does prohibit any kind of pedestrian traffic on it," Carl Taylor, post commander at the GSP post in Valdosta, pointed out. "And, of course, customarily we do try to patrol those areas and anybody that's observed walking anywhere beyond the entrance and exit ramps we do try to get 'em off the interstate."

Investigators are trying to determine if the three men killed in Atlanta Tuesday morning were intoxicated when they tried to cross the interstate.
