Lee County Manager Ron Rabun says there will not be any new fire stations built in Lee County anytime soon.
Rabun says roads and public safety are the two top spending items in the new budget that begins today.
There is money set aside in this year's budget for improvements to fire stations and crews.
Rabun says unless there is more money available or more people move into the area, there are no fire stations planned for the northern part of Lee County.
"We're buying a fire truck, and we're refurbishing some other fire equipment in order to strengthen out own core capabilities of response here," said Rabun.
Rabun says a new station would cost the county $837,000. A couple of new deputies and road pavings are also included in the county's budget.
