A strong storm and winds Monday night sent a tree crashing into a Northwest Albany home, forcing the family to move out.
This tree snapped in two during Monday evening's storm, falling onto the front roof of the Nixon's home on Divine Drive.
The tree knocked a big hole in the roof, letting in rain that damaged some of the top floor.
The family was watching the storm from an upstairs window when the tree hit.
"It sounded like the earth was shaking. It was really bad," said resident Genae Nixon. "We took off running. Told everybody to get down. Get down. Yes, my kids were scared."
The house was damaged so badly, firefighters had the power cut off and the Nixon family had to spend the night in a hotel.
