Family and friends are remembering former Auburn Football player Philip Lutzenkirchen.

The 23-year-old  died in a fatal crash early Sunday morning in Troup County.

The Georgia State Patrol says the crash happened at the intersection of Upper and Lower Springs Rd around 3 a.m. The driver was 22-year-old Joseph Ian Davis.

Davis was driving a 2006 Chevy Tahoe when he failed to stop at a stop sign, lost control, and the SUV rolled several times. Davis and Lutzenkirchen both died.

In his honor, fans rolled a tree on Auburn's campus. Its a long standing tradition when the football team wins.
