ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany youth baseball team is continuing their efforts to become state champions again.

The Albany American AAA Minor League All-Stars gave out candy to those who donated to their fundraiser at Sam's Club. They are raising money to return to the state tournament in Wrens,Georgia in July. They've raised $2900 so far, but their goal is to raise $8000.

"Out of the 12 players, we have Honor Roll students and they are at each of the schools in Dougherty County, so it's going for a great cause and we are looking to bring the state title back to Albany," said Arica Barfield, parent.

City Attorney Nathan Davis is challenging all attorneys in the city to match or beat his $20 donation he gave to the team. The team leaves to compete in the state tournament July 11th. You can also donate to the team by calling their coach, Leonard Williams, at 229-881-2263.
