Westover High principal William Chunn says six players from the Westover basketball team face disciplinary action after an investigation into the bullying of a former teammate at a summer camp at Florida State earlier this month.
Mr. Chunn cannot reveal the names of the six students, but described the punishments they are set to receive.
"It will range from disciplinary tribunals, in school suspensions, home suspensions, removal from the team, basketball game suspension and community service," said Principal William Chunn.
He also says some players have been kicked off the team and others will be suspended from games this coming season.
Several players' parents who are upset with the disciplinary action against their children met with Chunn Friday at Westover.
We reached out to the parents for comment, but they declined. The father of the victim says his son has been transferred to another school.
Chunn said the punishments handed down were done in accordance with the Dougherty County School System's Code of Conduct.
