VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Wild Adventures is preparing to celebrate a very rare birthday.

Shirley the elephant will turn 70 years old Saturday. She is the second oldest living elephant on record in the world. The park is planning a big celebration and is encouraging everyone to come out and watch and help them celebrate.

"They're gonna get to take part in it. They're gonna feel like they're part of it, because they're absolutely part of it," said Debbie Allen, one of Shirley's caretakers. "She's gonna get her a present, she's gonna have a cake and we're just gonna have a lot of fun with her."

Allen said even though Shirley is the second oldest living elephant on record, she's still in relatively good health.

"[Elephants] have to be able to lay down to get rest off of their legs, and Shirley is still able to lay down," Allen pointed out.

The celebration begins at 2 p.m.
