City considering changes to Water, Gas and Light expansion
Bob Langstaff, Albany City Commissioner
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
City leaders are considering major changes with Water, Gas and Light that could allow it to expand.
Commissioners looked over proposed changes to the city charter that would give the city manager more control over WG&L. It would also allow the city utility to offer new services in new areas.
"Other utilities like Thomasville, they operate outside of the city boundaries, so they sell things like water and gas and internet and TV service outside of Thomasville, and that's the same thing we're trying to do here is to expand our revenue base," said Bob Langstaff, Albany City Commissioner.
Commissioners will likely vote on the changes on July 22nd.
