ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Young people from Jacksonville, Florida are helping make Albany a better place to live.

Kids from Beach United Methodist Church team up with Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful each summer.

66 volunteers will trim the trees of courage on Westover Boulevard and assemble food boxes for the needy.

They painted the inside of Carver Gym on Monday. But even if all the paint didn't make it on the walls, the kids had fun lending a helping hand.

"Whenever you do those tasks- all those jobs, it makes you feel like you've done something right and as a teenager we all get upset at our parents. We get mad, we don't do the right things, and coming here it's like a refresher keeps you going," said Caleb Clayton with Youth Mission Team.

He also encourages other teens to join a church mission team. He says you don't have to travel. You can start doing good for others right where you are.
