CRISP CO., GA (WALB) -

Crisp County opened the qualifying process for the unexpired term of the late Donnie Haralson Monday.

Candidates for the Sheriff's office have until Friday to turn in their documents and pay the fees associated with qualifying.

Sheriff Billy Hancock was the first to qualify. He turned in his papers early Monday morning.

"I think it's important for people to know that I was there first thing this morning," said Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock. "They know I'm serious about running for Sheriff. I paid the fee to qualify, and filled out the necessary paperwork that's required to run for the office of Sheriff in Crisp COunty."

As of Monday, Sheriff Hancock was the only person qualified. The special election will take place November 4th.
