Senior citizens go to prom

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Several senior citizens lit up the dance floor tonight at the 2014 Senior Citizen's Prom.

It was held at the Albany Civic Center by the Albany Recreation and Parks Department and the Albany Police Department. The Marines from MCLB escorted some of the women into the prom. More than 100 senior citizens ages 50 and up were in attendance. Organizers say they want them to have a good time.

"It was my time to have a good time," said Tee Taylor, Recreation Supervisor. "I was here with people my age. I got to meet a new friend that I can go shopping with. I can go to eat lunch with."

83-year-old Betty White and 67-year-old Earleane Hightower arrived to the prom in a free limo from J.L. Litman Funeral Home as part of a giveaway. Miss Kutie's Boutique also provided jewelry. This is the 12th year the Senior Citizen's prom has been organized.
