19-month-old girl drowns in family swimming pool

EASTMAN, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the drowning death of a 19-month-old girl in a family swimming pool near the central Georgia town of Eastman.

The Telegraph reports ( http://bit.ly/1uJjh5q ) that the girl, McKinley Faith Adkinson, died late Thursday afternoon.

Coroner Joe Smith said an ambulance crew performed CPR all the way from Log Cabin Road to Dodge County Hospital, but McKinley did not survive.

Authorities said the girl's 10-year-old sibling also was at home with a 19-year-old babysitter when the girl was found in the pool about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
