Three arrested in Lowndes burglaries

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Investigators have recently been investigating the burglary of the residence at 4831 McGoggle Lane, in which guns and electronic items were taken.

Investigators identified Brittany Johnson, 18, Anthony Huewitt, 21, and Shayla Griffin, 18, and arrested them. They were all charged with first degree burglary.

Investigators discovered that the items had been taken to Atkinson County where they were to be sold, but they recovered them.

Investigators were also able to link the trio to other burglaries both in the city and county including incidents on Knights Academy Road and Knights Ferry Road. The Lowndes Co. Sheriff's Office, the Valdosta Police Department, and the Atkinson Co. Sheriff's Office are cooperating in the investigation.

Sheriff Chris Prine says additional charges on these people and arrests of other people are very likely.

Brittany Johnson and Shayla Griffin posted bond and were released from jail. Anthony Huewitt remains in the Lowndes County Jail.

Sheriff Prine is asking that anyone who may have come into contact with Marvin Smith to contact the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office at 229 671-2950 or anonymous tips can be provided at 229 671-2985 or on line at www.lowndessheriff.com
