THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Thomasville Police made a second arrest in an elder abuse case at a personal care home.

56-year old Stacy Sams, formerly a Licensed Practical Nurse at Southern Pines Home, surrendered Monday on a charge of failure to report elder abuse.

Thomasville Police say 25-year old Shauntavia Bates has been arrested on a charge of elder abuse. She has since been released from jail.

According to Lt. Eric Hampton, a witness reported seeing Bates strike a resident several times while giving the resident a shower at Southern Pines Personal Care Home at 423 Covington Avenue.

Police say this incident happened on May 16th but wasn't reported to them until June 12th. The investigation is continuing and others may be charged.
