DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) -

A South Georgia man returned home after he was found not guilty of killing his infant son during a second trial earlier in June.

After spending several years in prison, Adrian Thomas is a free man and he's back home in South Georgia.

"In 2008 I was charged with murder in the second degree with killing my 4 month old infant twin son Matthew Thomas," said Thomas.

During that time Thomas was living in New York. A jury convicted him in 2009 to 25 year to life in prison.

He appealed and was granted a new trial by the New York State Court of Appeals.

"12 jurors, they found me not guilty this passed Thursday and from there I was released on Thursday evening," said Thomas.

Now Thomas is reunited with family members and supporters, sharing his testimony of redemption to a full church house in Douglas.

"My whole message is to have faith and hold on to God's unchanging plan and his word," said Thomas.

Thomas was also reunited with his brother and sister.

"It's a wonderful feeling. Right now it's still unreal. I'm still adjusting back to society. Right now I'm just taking one day at a time," said Thomas.

Adrian Thomas says now that his record is clear, he's ready to move forward with his life.

Thomas says justice has prevailed.

There is also a documentary based on the Adrian Thomas' case called "Scenes of a Crime."
