Parents and kids enjoy "Movies on the Flint"

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It was a great night to watch a movie outside.

A lot of families took in a showing of "Kung Fu Panda" in Riverfront Park. It's part of the city's "Movies on the Flint" series.  One grandmother told us she's happy to have something for her grand kids to do.

"We need something for the kids to do, and if we don't put them together with us doing stuff," said Verginia Jackson." "They'll find stuff to do when they get older. If they're use to coming with you while they're little, when they get older they'll want to do family stuff. If we got this going around they'll be doing this instead of getting in gangs and doing other stuff."

The final movie of the summer series is July 11th.  Tonight's movie kicked off a series of downtown activities.

They include a community picnic Saturday at the Art Park. A Freedom Singers performance at 1:00 p.m. at the Albany Civil Rights Institute. The River Life Aquarium Party kicks off at 7:00 p.m.      Check out the legends of R&B at the Civic Center or the 2014 Summer Chaos Concert at the State Theater.  Theatre Albany also presents three performances of The Wonderettes over the weekend.
