Forest officials say a risky flood zone has been created in the aftermath of a wildfire that burned around northern Arizona's Oak Creek Canyon.
Experts said Friday that runoff and erosion from the Slide Fire could occur at a higher rate than normal during any future storm.
The Burned Area Emergency Response team says in its report that severe burns have resulted in heightened soil erosion, water, ash and debris flows.
The team says the Coconino National Forest will receive more than $80,000 in funding for emergency protective measures.
The human-caused Slide Fire burned 31 square miles.
The blaze began May 20 near Slide Rock State Park in the scenic canyon between Sedona and Flagstaff.
About 300 residents and business owners were forced to evacuate.
