ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
On this Father's Day weekend, Phoebe Putney Hospital is offering men free health screenings that could help save lives.
Organizers are preparing for Saturday's 15th Annual Healthy Fathers Health Fair. The theme is Stroke Awareness.
Stroke is the third most common cause of death in South Georgia, and organizers say men need to be aware of the warning signs.
"It's a change of paradigm," said Phoebe Community Benefits Coordinator Darrell Sabbs. "It's an understanding of how important prevention is, how important awareness is. Because you can save your life, or the life of one in your family."
The Men's Health Fair will be Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Phoebe HealthWorks at 311 Third Avenue in Albany.
All South Georgia men are invited for free health screenings and doctor presentations.
