AFD will be ready for hazards

The Albany Fire Department is preparing to handle a hazardous material emergency.  Their annual hazmat training started Thursday afternoon.

Members of the department trained as if they came in contact with hazardous chemicals and had to respond with a decontamination process.

"We don't have many hazmat situations during the year so in the event that we do have one. We'll be able to handle one when we get to it," said Training Lieutenant Ronnie Polite.

The fire department plans to hold another hazmat training session next Monday.
