INDIAN LAND, SC (WBTV) -

Officials at York Technical College announced plans to open a new off-campus instructional site in the Indian Land area, Thursday.

This will be the second institute of higher learning in Lancaster County and the first one in the County's faster growing area.

Sal Vindigeni is the Manager at Mama's Pizza and Pasta in Indian Land and he was excited to hear about York Tech's expansion because the only thing he loves more than making pizza is making a profit.

He hopes with more students in the area, he'll not only roll the dough, but be rolling in it.

"It's more people for us. It's going to help, absolutely. It'll help us stay in business. We've only been here one year, so we'd definitely appreciate more business," said Vindigeni.

York Tech Officials say, like the college's main campus, the new center on Rosemont Drive will offer comprehensive student support including access to admissions and financial aid counselors, career counseling, and other student support services.

The full-service facility also includes a modern computer lab, testing center, and library services.

"Indian Land is one of the fastest growing areas in the Charlotte region, so we're looking forward to expanding educational opportunities in that area," said York Tech's Business Development Director Moryah Jackson.

Along with speedy area growth, York Tech officials say another reason they chose Indian Land is because of the high interest from students to take classes there.

Good news for York Tech student and Indian Land resident Mehul Patel, who commutes to the Rock Hill Campus.

"I'm very excited about the commitment my college has to my community, knowing that it's concentrated in the area that I live," said Patel.

As for Vindigeni, he says he's ready for area's latest addition.

"I hope that kids will definitely come by here," he said.

York Tech officials say classes will begin in the fall.

The College is offering an Indian Land VIP scholarship to the first 100 new students who apply and register to attend classes exclusively at the Indian Land location by August 1st.

Interested students should complete the College's free online application HERE; AND send an email to indianland@yorktech.edu indicating interest in the Indian Land VIP scholarship.
