Two indicted for beating man on Albany expressway

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Two South Georgia men are accused of chasing down a suspected shoplifter and beating him.

The Dougherty Grand Jury indicted Dylan Berry and William Robertson for battery and Robertson for felony impersonating an officer.
Prosecutors say on April 17th, they chased Ronald Durham all the way from Walmart on Ledo Road to the Liberty Expressway.
Prosecutors say the two men beat Durham so severely that drivers stopped on the bypass, telling them to stop.

Dougherty District Attorney Greg Edwards said "Persons tried to intervene and they represented that they were police officers making an arrest. This is why they are charged."

Durham was treated at the hospital after the beating.

He was accused of stealing a television from Walmart.

Robertson was released from jail but was put on electronic monitor house arrest.
