Mosley contract OK'ed by state

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The State School Board has approved a waiver, allowing the Dougherty County school system to list the superintendent as a part-time employee.

That 49% designation would allow Dr. David Mosely to continue to collect state retirement benefits he earned before coming out of retirement to work in Dougherty County.

Last month they approved a $225,000 salary, but now the board will renegotiate a lower contract with Mosely.

Board Chair Carol Tharin says it could save the school system between 130 and 140 thousand dollars a year.

The State School Board did grant the waiver last year when Mosely was the interim superintendent.
