City will soon name Parks/Rec director

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

City manager James Taylor says that Joel S. Holmes has emerged as the best qualified candidate for the Albany Parks and Recreation Director position.

The Director position supervises, directs, and manages all aspects of Parks and Recreation Department to include recreation programs, centers and gyms, the Civic Center, golf course, parks, city cemeteries, and others.

The Director position is a direct report to the City Manager.   Mr. Holmes is currently Director of Parks and Recreation in the City of Chamblee, Georgia.  He has also held the position of Director of Recreation and Parks in Putnam County, Florida, and held positions of Athletic Coordinator, and Recreation Center Manager during his career.

Mr. Holmes earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management with a Minor in Business from Georgia Southern University.   The City is providing public notice of Mr. Taylor's decision on the best qualified candidate in compliance with Georgia's open records law.

At least 14 days must now pass before there is final action on selecting the Parks and Recreation Director.
