CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

A south Georgia quadriplegic, told he would never walk again, accomplished a major goal Saturday morning.

We told you Friday that James Tolbert hoped to walk a mile in an hour Saturday morning at the watermelon 5-K

Tolbert beat his goal and finished his mile in fifty-eight minutes. He was joined by more than 20 members from his gym.

His trainer had a memorable morning as the finish line came into view. "And that happened when we were headed back up Greer street and you could see the finish line," Teresa Ward said. "And I said James you see that finish line, and he said yes. I said now you walk and you get to that finish line. We're almost there, you've got this."

Tolbert is going to continue training and make a new goal to walk farther.
