Board of Trustees approve 3% tuition increase for College of Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Undergrads at the College of Charleston will have to pay more for their education next semester. On Monday, the Board of Trustees approved a 3.2% tuition increase.

In-state students will be paying more than $10,500 each year and those coming from out of the state will pay upwards of $27,500 a year.

Another change for students returning in the fall, the College of Charleston campus will be smoke free.

A spokesman tells us they will begin enforcing no smoking rules starting July 1.

This is a second district in a year who's made the move to ban smoking in the downtown area.

MUSC and some of its surrounding streets are also no smoking areas.
