ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Chehaw Park kicked off their second annual World Ocean Day.

Kids at the park got a hands on experience with sea animals in the mobile Gulf Specimen Marine Lab from Florida. They touched star fish, sting rays, and sea horses. Organizers say the day celebrates the ocean and all it has to offer.

"Everything, not just sea life that we have in the ocean or on land, all these animals are a gift and we should appreciate them and do everything we can to make sure they survive and that their environments are protected," said Cypress Rudloe with the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab.

The Jekyll Island Sea Turtle Center and the Flint RiverQuarium also had educational booths. World Ocean Day will continue tomorrow at the Flint RiverQuarium from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
