Lowndes deputies bust pot grow operation

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Lowndes County Sheriff Prine says that marijuana, cash, and a gun were taken in a raid Tuesday at 1605 Larue Drive, in Valdosta, after a number of citizen complaints.

Prine said that 12 marijuana plants, approximately 229 grams of harvested marijuana, packaging materials, and a .380 caliber handgun were recovered.

The marijuana grow operation was dismantled and the plants, loose marijuana and other items were seized and removed from the home.

The resident, Lorne Carter, 48, was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail. He appeared in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court on Wednesday and a $50,000 bond was set, but he remains in jail.

Carter is charged with:

Manufacturing Marijuana

Possession of Marijuana with the intent to distribute

Possession of the tools for the commission of a crime

Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

 

The loose Marijuana that was seized has an estimated street value of $2,300 and the plants have an estimated life value of $54,000.
