ADEL, GA (WALB) -

A fallen South Georgia war hero will be honored in his hometown.

Two signs will soon go up in Adel to honor Staff Sergeant Briand Williams who was killed in Iraq in November 2009. A city council member who played a big part in bringing the signs to town said it's important for children in Adel to learn about Williams' service and sacrifice.

"The biggest thing is, it's gonna be a historical thing for the kids here in the city of Adel. When they see that sign, they gonna say 'this is one of our local heroes.' And that just does us well here in the city of Adel," said council member Gregg Paige.

Two signs will also be put up in Sparks.  A ceremony will be held on July 26th to unveil the signs.
