CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

The Cordele Police Department said an autopsy will be performed on the human remains found inside a home on West 15th Avenue.

A team of renovators discovered the body as they entered the vacant property a little before 2 p.m. Thursday.

Cordele Police Detective Andrew Roufs said that it's hard to tell what happened because of the condition of the body, but foul play has not been ruled out. Records show the house had been vacant for five years.

Investigators believe the remains may be connected to a missing person case.

Officials have not released the identity of the remains. They believe it is a male, but do not yet know when the person died.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Cordele Police Department at 229-276-2921.
