VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is helping some Brooks County High School students strengthen their leadership skills.

It's part of the third annual Brooks County High School Student Leadership program. The students were chosen based on their leadership at school. Each day during the week of June 2nd-6th, the students help each other work through an obstacle and ropes course at Wiregrass Georgia Tech in the morning and then participate in community service activities in the afternoon.

"We start out with low ropes challenge activities and then kind of build up to the higher elements, and just work on their team building, their confidence, their leadership skills," said camp coordinator and economic development director at Wiregrass, Bill Tillman.

Thursday afternoon, the students will be working together to put on a plant sale in Quitman.
