COWPENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Cowpens police said they were called to a local apartment complex after neighbors were awoken to the sound of a woman screaming for help as two men beat a woman then kidnapped her before she was able to escape to safety.

Police were called to a local apartment complex about 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday and encountered the victim, who was crying and upset.

The woman told officers she was asleep when she heard someone coming up her stairs then one man jumped on her and the other helped him drag her off the bed to the bathroom, according to the report.

The report stated the men kept saying she stole their pills and held her down by her throat. Police said they forced her into their truck and told her she would not get her phone back until she gave them their pills.

As the woman screamed for help, a neighbor heard her and came outside to see the men attacking her and driving off in the truck, but the woman was able to jump out, the report stated.

While at the scene with the victim, police said one of the men called her and began cussing and threatening her. The report stated the call was on speakerphone and was recorded by officers. Police said the men had gotten inside the apartment by taking her key.

Both men, identified as 20-year-old Christopher Ledford and 28-year-old Kyle Ledford, were trespassed from the apartments and arrested.

Online jail records show both were charged with kidnapping, first-degree burglary and third-degree assault and battery. Kyle Ledford was also charged with false information to police and petit larceny.
