Dougherty County Police search for robbers

DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

Dougherty County Police want you to be on the lookout for two armed robbers.

One man walked into the Stop and Shop on Cordele Road about 8:45 Tuesday night and demanded money. The clerk refused and chased the robber out. He even jumped into his car and followed when the robber sped off with another man.

The robbers fired multiple gunshots, hitting the clerk's car. Police say he's lucky he didn't get hurt. "Of course, we don't recommend following or chasing the subjects. If you can get a tag number safely, that is great. This subject did get a tag number, so that is something we're working on at this time, but it's not recommended that you chase the subject," said Lt. Chad Kirkpatrick.

Police are looking for a 2-door, 2002 black Honda Accord. The license plate is PTY 8819. Call 911 if you see it.
