ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Georgia Department of Human Services is working to keep seniors healthy.

People from around the state are in Albany for the 16th annual Healthy Communities Summit.      The opening reception was held tonight at the new Senior Life Enrichment Center.  The summit focuses on providing nutrition and physical fitness tips to promote healthy aging and creating livable healthy communities.

"We'll have training classes, and of course we'll have general meetings, but basically they'll be learning new skills and serving the older people," said SOWEGA Council on Aging Executive Director Kay Hind.

The conference continues through Thursday at the senior center and Merry Acres Event Center.
