NORMAN PARK, GA (WALB) -

A 6-year-old boy is recovering in a Macon hospital after he was accidentally run over by a car in Norman Park Monday night.

A Norman Park officer responded to Colquitt Regional Medical Center around 9 p.m. after the boy was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle.

Mayra Mendoza, the child's mother, told police the child tried to get out of the car as she was backing out of the driveway.  The child then fell and was run over.

Once the child was taken to the hospital, they were airlifted to a hospital in Macon.

Authorities say there is no sign of foul play.
