Maurice Freeman nominated for national coach of the year

BROOKS CO., GA (WALB) -

Brooks County High School Football coach Maurice Freeman is a finalist for a major national award.

Freeman is one of four finalists for the national high school football coach of the year award. It is part of the Steve Harvey Neighborhood Awards. The other three coaches are from Chicago, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C.

"That's big just to receive a nomination. So, if I could win it'd be outstanding. If I don't I still get a chance to participate and I'm certainly happy about that," Freeman said.

The winner will be announced during the awards ceremony in Atlanta August 9th-11th. The winner will receive a new Ford truck.

Voting will end at 6 p.m. on June 2nd. To vote, visit www.steveharvey.com.
