Four people displaced in Valdosta apartment fire

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A four year-old child in Valdosta is recovering Thursday night after accidentally starting a fire while playing with a lighter.
 
It happened just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Azalea Woods Apartment complex in Valdosta.  The fire started in a bedroom closet and caused $6,000 in damage.

None of the four people inside were hurt, but the four year-old was taken to the hospital for minor smoke inhalation. The residents are staying with family members for the time being.

    In eight Southwest Georgia counties, almost 14 percent of adults have been diagnosed with the diabetes. That's well about the national rate. But there is good news for those that suffer from it. There's plenty of help locally.
